I don't know who needs to hear this but
The postal service exists to deliver letters and parcels to people
Not to make money for shareholders
The transport system exists to move people to where they need to go
Not to make money for shareholders
The water, gas, and electricity supplies exist to provide people vital utilities
Not to make money for shareholders
The healthcare system exists to ensure (and that's ENsure, not INsure) the health of the population
Not to make money for shareholders
Shareholders in vital public services are a vampiric drain on those services
Capitalism is a disease
OK, language weirdness question.
Someone recently said:
"I just about caught the train."
Did they catch it or not? Perhaps it depends whether you think of English as (one of) your first language(s).
As always, if you're happy to do so I'd be grateful if you'd boost for reach, and to get beyond my circle of followers.
Thank you!

Mushroom gets sad and grumbly when I get up from the couch unless I build him replacement snuggles with the blanket. Itβs fine, heβs not spoiled.
This is consistent with the model we put out. That the immune aging predisposes to a response characteristic of an aged immune system

Praying to the fire gods?
With all this rain (Iβm in California and weβre getting a lot) we lit a fire, the first in probably a year. I think the cats forgot how nice fireplace fires are.
@ScottSoCal yeah, thatβs rough. I didnβt want mine sitting for more than a week even if I donβt necessarily need to use it.
I was fully ready to crawl through my trunk, but itβs a sedan and I have two carseats in the back. They werenβt budging.
On a plus side, I found out that I have a hidden keyhole on the underside of my trunk lip, above the license plate. Iβve only owned the car for 10 years without knowing, nbd.
Twitter appears to have stopped third party Twitter apps from accessing Twitter, without any warning or explanation. The reason Twitter can do this is because they control twitter.com and there are no other servers to choose from.
This kind of instant shutdown cannot happen on Mastodon or the Fediverse, because there are thousands of independent servers running on free open software standards.
This is why third party apps are so much more widely used on Mastodon and the Fediverse.

Got my locked and dead car opened up and the battery on a charger. Battery had died last weekend bc my 4 year old turned on a dome light and I hadnβt needed the car so I just left it.
Key slot was jammed up, too, because I never use it. But lots of silicon lubricant later, Iβm in.
Felt like a thief in my hoodie in the pouring rain trying to break into my own car! Heh

So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
