Recognition of trans people has driven at least 2 billionaires insane (Musk and Rowling) and now will drive the UK to destroy itself and push Scotland to seek to leave. I really don't understand this level of brain worms or hatred.

Thank you Dr. King for inspiring many generations of young activists. On this #MLKDay, I encourage us all to listen to the Black community, uplift their voices, celebrate their achievements, and lend support in the ongoing fight for racial justice and equality.

@georgetakei Well last time I think it resulted into marching into Poland. But maybe I am too pessimistic.
"A recognition that America is a nation with generations of institutional, systematic oppression of non-white racial minorities and that we should do something to address it" happens to be nearly the exact words used by Ron DeSantis' attorneys when asked in court to define this "woke" thing he and they believe needs to be outlawed and forbidden from being discussed in education and in public.
They'd have labeled Dr. King as a "woke" enemy to far-right Republicanism.

Fannie Lou Hamer β best known for her famous line βIβm sick and tired of being sick and tiredβ β doesnβt get the attention of MLK.
But, I promise you if he were still alive today, Dr. King would remind us to never forget that woman and the example she embodied β¦

Hi everyone,
I am Nila. I am a neuroscientist & currently a Postdoc in Rainer Friedrich's lab at FMI. I study the circuit of the olfactory bulb in the adult zebrafish using a connectomic approach. Recently I have been a bit sidetracked by telencephalic temptations...
I am here to keep up to date and exchange with the scientific community. But I love to have my mind blown by anything nature. So, I am hoping to learn many fun facts outside of my horizons (& to see many beautiful images as well).
I am a first-gen academic which has sometimes been a struggle (mostly in my mind). Topics of open access, social mobility & justice are important to me, and I do have to learn a lot there.
Parenting 3 little humans doesn't leave much energy for hobbies but running is my lifeline.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
