All the smartest people I know are advising that I should massively expand my garden pond.
Great minds think a lake.

On my way to #Kyiv.
Ukrainians are fighting for their land, for the future of their children.
But they are also fighting for our common European values of peace and prosperity.
They need and deserve our support.
@ScottSoCal I've been trying to get as high as those people since 1976. Must have been much better reefer back then.
A couple folks asked why I share bios & links about women & underrepresented groups in science instead of βeveryone.β
Well, we already hear a lot about famous men like Einstein & Darwin. But there are so many wonderful stories of other amazing individuals who have made significant contributions in #science #tech & beyond but havenβt been celebrated as widely.
And when we donβt see ourselves in the #history of STEM, we may not recognize we are capable of great achievements too.

Im so glad Sarah covered this b/c its problem i feel doesnt get enough attention:we will be clearing mines for yrs after war is over, meanwhile civilians will be injured & killed. RU purposely saturate occupied areas w/ mines, w/ longterm goal to terrorize us& make land unusable. https://twitter.com/SarahAshtonLV/status/1615756228059344896
@ScottSoCal @Jaden2 also King understood as a practical matter that a violent uprising would be mercilessly crushed with untold #s of dead revolutionaries
@ScottSoCal @Jaden2 he also largely agreed with Ghandi that widespread βcivilβ disobedience evaporates the power of the powerful. The minority canβt rule without the consent/obedience of the masses
@SusanHR @Jaden2 @ScottSoCal indeed, the wounds have not healed.. my country Kenya has only been politically independent for 60 years, and so much of the colonial past influences everything we do today
@ScottSoCal @Jaden2 sort of but what gets left out on King side is the misunderstanding/oversimplification of nonviolence, which isnβt abt hugs & singing kumbaya. Itβs a COERCION tactic. Read MLKs βFill The Jails,β which explores how the goal of nonviolent direct action is abt gumming up the system to bring it to a screeching halt. There is a Machiavellian power move involved. Non violent direct action is FORCE (minus military weapons). Gene Sharp has tons on this
