ughhh got misgendered on the phone by 3 people. Not their fault, my voice is on the high end, they're from another country and likely don't know that "Kevin" is almost exclusively a man's name. I didn't bother correcting them, that leads to confusion and additional identity verification and I'm never going to talk to them again.

@f00fc7c8 have you ever lurked in neighborhood groups or on NextDoor? It's a real eye-opener. People love having the ability to constantly record their property. They are terrified of their neighbors and anyone that comes to their door.

I can't tell you how many people think it's fine to call the cops on salespeople, delivery people, anyone on their street who looks "suspicious" because they don't recognize them or because Black/brown.

Third time's a charm as I shop around for a Twitter alternative. I've tried Hive Social, Post, and now I'm hoping that Mastodon is my new hangout.

I mostly post about my virtual adventures as a kids author doing online presentations, but I have an interest in local politics in my home city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm sometimes snarky, but I try to be fair and funny.
