Today in Labor History March 9, 1902: Actor Will Geer was born. Best known for his role as Grandpa Walton in the long-running series, β€œThe Waltons,” Geer also appeared in the groundbreaking film, β€œSalt of the Earth,” which portrayed the struggle of Mexican American workers at the Empire Zinc Mine. Because of his activism on labor and political issues, he was blacklisted in Hollywood for many years. In 1934, he became a member of the Communist Party. He also met LGBTQ activist Harry Hay that year and they became lovers. Together, they supported the 1934 San Francisco General Strike and demonstrated against fascism and for workers’ rights.

Conversion therapy for bigots?

I bought this bird house end of Fall last year, hoping to entice a Spring inhabitant. It was too close to my feeder. So 2 weeks ago, I moved it. Within 2 days, a resudent birb took up housekeeping! Can't wait to see who emerges!

I like this one better. The first one showed a little camera shake. What do you think?

A Black California couple's home appraisal valued their home at $995,000. Disappointed, they "white-washed" their home and had a white friend pose as the owner. New appraisal: $1.48 million.

They just won their lawsuit against the first appraiser. theguardian.com/us-news/2023/m

Sometimes I like to stand in the kitchen and shout things like β€œaluminum foil is microwaveable, right?” just to watch my husband run.

I know you know amazing women, or are an amazing woman yourself!
Seeing a person's eyes light up because a gift makes them feel cared for, thought of, appreciated. That is true joy.
I'd be honoured to send you or a woman you love jewellery, a friend, mother, daughter, partner, or any other amazing important woman in your life. ❀️

I just stumbled across this pic of Timba, our Malinois (she’s about 45% Malinois, 35% husky, & the rest Chow, Rottie, & pibble), the day we brought her home. She was about 9 mos old at the time. She could barely keep her eyes open, she was so exhausted. It was a big day! #dogs #DogsOfMastodon #malinois #GiantCuddleBeast

Actually Trump’s plan isn’t so secret. He’d have handed Unkraine over to Big Daddy Vlad with a big red bow right after swearing in.

With a legitimate Supreme Court there would be no question this is as blatant a violation of the Establishment Clause, the 1st Amendment, and the 14th Amendment as there is. Literally stating in plain language that you can be denied a marriage by the state because of your religion.

Just read an article about chatgpt "lying" about someone being dead and it's like "I asked it for the link to the obituary but it doubled down on the lie and provided a fake link instead" and I'm begging people to understand that it's a statistical model, it doesn't know it's lying so it can't "double down". The statistically probably answer to "where is the link" is not "I'm sorry I made it all up", it's a link. It doesn't even know what a link is, it just knows vaguely what one looks like so you're basically asking it "generate a plausible looking link to an obituary in the guardian" and it did
