It's less "finally, someone shares my interests" and more "this seems to interest them, I'll share all I know so we can continue the conversation with the same level of knowledge".

... but then there's usually very little continuing of conversations involved...

President Biden told his fellow leaders at the G7 summit that the U.S. will support a joint plan to train Ukrainian pilots on advanced fighter jets, including U.S.-made F-16s. t.co/shwkRMPlgS

Another year, another fucking book whining about "dying masculinity" that just boils down to "Why I can't I be a selfish asshole anymore."

It's weird. Almost all of my male role models were powerful and selfless, guys who saw their role as using their power to protect people who didn't, and happily surrendering that power if that's what it took. Where the fuck is this bratty whining about I'm a real man am too am too am too coming from anyway?

@lmgenealogy @ScottSoCal @f1337 @actuallyautistic oh yeah. Totally. My youngest son was diagnosed at 3 years old and as I observed his behavior growing up I was like...wait...was this me at his age? I think it was.

He apparently had a lot of internal dialogue that he later described to me when he was more verbal and able to communicate and I was like. Oh.

I never realized I had those same internal dialogues or outward behavior.

I thought I just had social anxiety, but desperately wanted to connect with people who ultimately thought my behavior was weird.

Now I'm like...ok, it's really cool that he gets a jump start on building coping skills and communication. It took me forever to obtain that.

We obviously need an aggressive policy response to the gun violence emergency. But a society in which this kind of behavior is widespread, and one major party’s political elites as well as millions of their followers regard it as somehow acceptable, also needs to look much deeper. 1/

Hello! I am migrating here and so, with some edits, reposting (yet again, sorry if you've seen this multiple times now!) it for future people to read if they come across my profile.

I'm Jessica, a British autistic ace in her 30s.

I have found acceptance and understanding in the #neurodivergent community which helps me learn something new about myself every day. I use my account to learn more and talk about my life and experiences as someone who recently learned they belonged to these communities.

I used to think I was shy, introverted and antisocial. I never posted much online for fear of being judged or misunderstood, it was easier to just keep to myself. I now know this isn't true, and I just hadn't found the right community.

Since being on Mastodon, I've really enjoyed meeting various people across many different communities. In a different pinned post, I've listed a bunch of interests in hashtags - feel free to follow if we share stuff in common!

Men’s pants: Your waist is 30 inches, therefore you are a size 30.

Women’s pants: Your waist is bad inches, you have wide hips, a small butt, short legs, a prehensile tail, and we don’t like your face. Therefore you are a size whatever the fuck we want, but only at this store.

Good idea: Senator Warren has spearheaded a bipartisan legislation, called Failed Bank Executives Clawback Act, which would allow the FDIC to take back any pay made to the bank executives in the five years leading up to the lenders’ collapse. US senators grilled the bosses of failed Signature Bank and SVB over accountability and pay packages. The executives refused the suggestion to hand back their pay to the FDIC-: qz.com/signature-bank-svb-fail

I'm an electrical engineer by training. It's funny, because what you describe sounds ideal for a lot of reasons. I love science and space. I've been considering a shift in that direction, but there other factors at play and I'm not sure moving would be the best for me. I live in Illinois, which doesn't have as much space stuff as CA and CO, so I'm limited on that front unless I move.

I'm pretty new to the neurodivergent world, so take this with a massive grain of salt, but I've had a similar experience.

I was dx'd with depression in my late teens and I was prescribed Wellbutrin. That worked well for a while and I went off of it after a few years. Flash forward a decade to a few years ago, and was prescribed Wellbutrin again, but it did nothing. I've tried others since then and no response. I'm about ready to give up too. Nothing seems to help.

@ScottSoCal @f1337 @actuallyautistic Someone on Mastodon wisely observed that if you talk to #actuallyautistic people and the things they say about their struggles and experiences sound exactly like yours, there's probably a reason for that.

I suppose that I should make a formal introduction of myself and my work. Soft pastel is my preferred medium and I primarily work with nature-inspired subjects, especially birds and florals. Prints of these artworks are available at mmandersonart.com and a few other sites. I also enjoy designing custom greeting cards featuring my work which are available at greetingcarduniverse.com/MMAnd. #PastelArtwork #PastelArtist #NatureArtwork
