VOTE. Do it. No excuses. Anyone on here making excuses not toβgets blocked. The stakes are too high for this bullshit rationalizing of not voting. VOTE, DAMN ITβit is the ONLY thing you have as a check against power in the US. USE IT. Too many people DIED for YOU to vote. Iβve blocked someone here talking BS. And to the blockee: what the hell are YOU doing to address the electoral college other than talk about it on here? GOP wouldnβt suppress voting if it didnβt matter. #BlackMastodon #Mastodon
so in that SCOTUS case about the web designer that didn't want to make a website for a gay wedding, it came out that the person that was supposedly requesting the website (a guy named with identifying details) was contacted by the press and he said he never even asked anyone for a website, and he's already married to some lady anyhow.
like it's incredibly weird. I don't know how the details are gonna shake out but I guess we can just make up shit whole cloth now to tailor our impact litigation?
Iβm tired. Rights are being stolen. The planet is burning. Far right nationalism is on the rise. I donβt feel safe.
Iβm having a hard time finding a bright spot to aim for. Idk what to do to help or changes things. Hell, idk what I CAN do. But I want to do something, anything, to make a difference.
I know Iβm not alone in this feeling. So Iβm reminding you, neither are you.
Now excuse me. Iβm going to scream punk lyrics until I calm down.
Next year, as in 2022, EVERY U.S. HOUSE SEAT will be up for election, as will multiple Senate seats. 2024 is a presidential election year. Every state will elect legislators, Governors, city mayors & school boards, county supervisorsβ¦you get the picture.
Our choice is crystal clear: DEMOCRACY or FASCISM.
π·NO ELECTION SINCE 1904 HAS EXCEEDED 66% TURNOUT.
The only direct power we have in our government is through our vote. The most positive change we can make is to help GET OUT THE VOTE.
Volunteering works. Personal contact works. Donations work.
Itβs not too early to get involved, and there are many ways to help.
@simplemycelium @joshsusser @actuallyautistic I definitely relate to this. I also have a system, and also have trouble following it when stressed and anxious. My strategy is to address the stress by doing something physically taxing.
Lately Iβve gotten really into running, especially on trails with lots of greenery. I may not have gotten into it if I hadnβt found voice-guided runs. Takes care of all the planning part, which is very taxing for me.
@StillIRise1963 if youβre not alarmed by whatβs happening in this country and on earth in General youβre a fucking idiot
Just want to put it out there that I'm looking for remote full-time SOC and NOC analyst (Tier 1) or tech support (Tier 1-2) positions!
I have an IT/Cybersecurity apprenticeship, and two SANS certifications: GSEC and GCIH (working on a third: GCIA). Before that, I have years of tech support, database upkeep, and customer service experience. I'm open to all shifts.
I've been looking for a while, and I really could use any suggestions or leads anyone has. I would very much like to be working!

It's Trump's Supreme Court. They're having sham cases brought before them so they can rule as they had previously planned to rule!
No Stare Decisis!
No "judging" going on by the far right activist Trump puppets

I prefer to keep it light here, but if I may: If your Christian faith "requires" you to discriminate against people, you should have serious questions about your so-called faith. #SupremeCourt #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA #Bigots https://www.nytimes.com/live/2023/06/30/us/gay-rights-free-speech-supreme-court?unlocked_article_code=OITu2FYDoOsYQHGX6RMhvvkiutP7r2T-hT4YFlMzMjOsjX4_J6zArNU8JtaY_nSbc05VMSd-YK9XCIrLmPCWKWVQsniYT7yN1DyNlzeMq-a-2vp1sqobNn9k_EXwgMEqp6s1-jGN2HuZKy9pgaUXKpj5my_7VZS5QabrWYK6dZthN5cXReoqxJALKzkhutu8hH4Y3fHBHR7-OUOzcPScR13P56jY1v_MD6uSgkr2sK0bArKF-zjKDjfpQZA2GxSMgf7ZJabLr7BfHKjhHW87IjpjOy-wYfr7j5el8dFUFhFwo5e4aRlmYeJdzTIBDuhBdcURPfVbGr4jESozeHiMtny5OXgP9bn1WwyzV1_nk6vR&smid=url-share

@ScriptFanix somewhat? When I've used metacommunication like 'hey I'm about to say something and it's not meant as an insult, I'm curious because of <reason> so I'd appreciate it if you could interpret it that way...', I get told I shouldn't worry so much, that it's cool, nobody assumes malice. Then I don't use it, because I'm engaged and have been made to feel safe and suddenly saying the same thing I was told needed no softening was completely wrong π
Some times I can even see why something might be interpreted as snide or aggressive - but have no alternative words to use to express it.
@loops @actuallyautistic "Fit" in every corporate context means white or Asian (or white-passing or benign brown), able-bodied, cishet, middle class or higher, male.
Probably a few more exclusions I missed or am not aware of, not being a good fit.
From US senate California candidate Rep. Barbara Lee:
βDeeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life."
This is why we needed the perspective of a Black woman on the courtβand why we need the perspectives of students of color in classrooms. #KBJ

@ScottSoCal it helps if you reformulate "why" as "what is the purpose of this meeting?". "Why" has, in general, an undertone of negativity, "What's the purpose?" is more goal-oriented. And yet, equally to the point.
Give it a try.
