If tfg becomes president, with the stroke of his pen:

DOJ will no longer be independent; no one left to stop tfg from charging his political opponents with crimes.

FBI efforts to curb the spread of disinformation, including Russian propaganda, will be shut down.

The Insurrection Act will be used to shut down protests and to deploy red-state National Guard units against blue states.

Abortion will be banned nationwide.

My neighbor, butterflies & pesticides (2/2)

So a few days ago, I was again out taking pics, and my neighbor starts spraying his lawn w flea & tick spray. A pesticide. And he didn't go easy. Absolutely drenched every bit of his property.

Then he asked me if I wanted him to do my side (the space in between our houses).

I told him no, that stuff kills bees & butterflies.

He said - smiling brightly - "Oh I know. That's why I asked. I was careful to keep it on my side!"

His side. As if there is a glass wall between our houses that will keep the poison "over there." As if wildlife understands property lines & will stay on "my side" where it's safe.

I mean...seriously?

My heart just sank. It was so depressing that I went back to taking butterfly pics without saying anything. Bc what could I even say, y'know? He clearly will never understand & I don't need a neighbor war.

Anyway, this has been churning in my brain ever since & I just needed to talk about it. Thank you for reading. ๐Ÿ’š

BREAKING: Supreme Court accidentally posts draft opinion appearing to side with Biden admin on Idaho abortion case

Then quickly removed it. Jeez. Is this any way to run an airline? (as the old saying goes).

The Indigenous Shasta Nation of California just won 2800 acres of their land back after 100 yrs, the largest in California #history! And, California is paying for it!
It's part of the Klamath River dam removal project, an ecological project which revives a 300 mile salmon habitat! Shasta land was stolen in the 1848 Gold Rush & 1911 by imminent domain for the Copco No 1 Dam. Shasta chairman Janice Crowe said โ€œToday is a turning point in the history of the Shasta peopleโ€

Anyone who votes for Trump to lower their taxes while ignoring his threat to the rule of law is shortsighted, ahistorical & doesn't understand what business needs to succeed argues Reid Hoffman in tinyurl.com/4x4f65xp.

I don't understand people that get upset when others discuss their personal issues in the open. I usually end up learning something about myself when I read about other people's struggles, even if I don't understand or empathize with those struggles.

No one is required to discuss their issues openly, but I think it benefits everyone when they do. It helps normalize such things.

One of the best things abt being in my 50s is that I care not one whit abt โ€œdressing appropriately for my age.โ€

I wore this skirt downtown one day & encountered a 6 y/o girl who was also wearing a full tulle skirt. As we waited for the traffic light to change, each of us looked at the other & said, โ€œI LIKE YOUR SKIRT!โ€ at the same time.

Do something today that makes YOU happy. Your genuine happiness will add to the positive energy for all of us. Weโ€™re all connected, you know.

It's beginning to dawn on folks that abortion rights were just the first human rights to go under right-wing control of our top political offices, especially the courts.

Gay rights are in the Republican extremists' crosshairs. So is birth control. So is freedom of expression, and so much more.

The right wing never bought into civil rights in the first place.

Maybe Big Journalism will notice this with more than passing interest, but they'd have to wake up first.

Back in NYC i got some temporary body art known as henna. It lasted for a couple of weeks.
Don't think i'm up to having tattoos, but this - this i like.

It is important to note that, according to Russian law, the list of such places should have been approved long ago, but the information is being requested to be clarified because of a new "letter from the Russian Ministry of Culture."

Museum administrations have been given until 1 July this year to respond.
Another point in the letter states that at least some of the cultural and historical monuments will be taken outside the peninsula.

The letter was not published by the National Resistance Center, even though they have it, due to "sensitive information."

The Russians are trying to speed up the process of typification and evaluation of museum artefacts in Crimea. Museum workers are creating electronic registers of works of art and historical monuments and transferring information to the Russian electronic museum fund.

The letter was signed by Andrei Rostenko, the so-called deputy minister of culture of Crimea. He is the former head of the occupation administration of the city of Yalta in Crimea. Earlier, there was information about the start of the evacuation of military families from Crimea.

Recently, Ukrainian military said it has destroyed three Russian surface-to-air missile systems in Russian-occupied Crimea. Analysts believe it's only a matter of time before Kyiv might attack another vital target in Crimea: the bridge linking the occupied peninsula to the Russian mainland.

My animals are my support system - they provide 100% unconditional love. I've had the same two dogs for 16 years.
In April Little Miss' kidney disease got to the point I had to make the compassionate choice for her. And today I did the same for Little Man. My heart is breaking, and I don't know how to handle it.

In related news, I need to get a bite guard before I grind my teeth down into stumps, so I got a 3-D scan of my teeth and the lady doing the scan told me I have nice teeth and I said "Thanks! Your coworker just cleaned them!" because Iโ€™m an absolute weirdo so now I can never go back.

Planning on attending another nearby #pride2024 celebration tomorrow afternoon. It's about an hour's drive each way, and runs from noon until 10pm. I'm hopeful that I will have the requisite #spoons in order to go the day.

Last time, the crowds didn't overwhelm me, which I was pleased by. I assume that had a lot to to do with being around my tribe.
