Hot take: HTTPS isn't that necessary.

I mean, if you're handling passwords or anything similarly sensitive, it is absolutely necessary. But, like, for a simple, text-and-image-only website, do you really need it? Probably not. It's not the end of the world, put it that way.

This isn't to say that you shouldn't use HTTPS for these sites, mind you. Just that you don't need to, really.

@auravulpes some ISPs inject ads and other JavaScript stuff into webpages delivered over http and I wouldn't want that on my website if I had one

@quirk Right... I forgot that that is the world we're living in. I still stand by what I said. After all, I did say it wasn't to say you shouldn't use it, but that is a very important thing I forgot.
