The Story of Texas in one sentence, but more succinct
A bunch of white guys moved here then kept getting pissed about blacks getting equal rights (or even "status as more than just chattel")
The Story of Texas in one sentence
A bunch of white dudes moved to Mexico, then got pissed when Mexico's laws changed forbidding them from owning slaves, so, rather than moving back from whence they came, they stole a good chunk of Mexico and later decided to join the US, where they'd later get pissed about the US doing the same thing.
tech question, consumer advice req
@Breakfast Depending on how much trouble you're willing to deal with, you can get some pretty good android phones (I know Nokia makes some decent phones, as do Oneplus) or you could find a older phone with decent ROM support. I've heard good things about the Nexus 6 and 6P, and you might have luck with the smaller siblings the 5 and 5X (though, those can be spotty). Honestly, if you just want an android phone, though, Nokia or Oneplus, I'd say.
Re: probably unpopular opinion about vacation/holiday time off
@pixelpaperyarn Fair enough. There is a kinda fine line between people with the kinda concerns I though you were referencing and explicitly being tied to work in a way that kinda seems to be screaming codependency, and what you seem to be actually referencing definitely falls into that latter camp and that is quite concerning.
Re: probably unpopular opinion about vacation/holiday time off
@pixelpaperyarn So, just to give you some context on this, one of this big things that was repeatedly stressed when I was in partial hospitalization recently was that we needed have some structure once we left. Completely unstructured time can be a contributor to depression, as it was with me. Your advice is sound, but it IS reasonable to be anxious about having unstructured time off.
Things that make me go "Gods. fucking. damn it. You had ONE JOB."
Turns out, blocking someone on FurAffinity doesn't stop their art from showing up on the front page. Good job!
You had *ONE JOB* and you completely fucked it.
*Grumble grumble* why do i even bother with this site anymore *Grumble grumble*
Gotta say, I kinda like ebay sellers who don't actually understand what they're saying and are kinda just putting keyword spam in. They're amusing. Like with the "Military 1W 532nm Green Laser Pointer" I found. Do they realize that 1W puts it at being firmly a class 4 laser that *ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A LASER POINTER*? No. No, they do not.
(And, ofc, going by the reviews (and some "common sense"), it's not even a 1W laser. My guess? Maybe low power class 3B (~5-25mW) *at best*)
Plural, context
This was in regards to Jade and Miles and the way they're trying to work out a fused form to avoid the problems that come with secondary fronting and the like. Right now, they both keep fading in and out with a merger between. Hopefully, they get this worked out soon. 🤞💗
@redoak @melissasage I'm sorry. I thought this was where we put the *bad* ideas?
@BalooUriza @cooler_ranch @melissasage Bad idea based on this: Instances can't use ASCII, UTF-8 or any similar common encodings and encodings between instances aren't converted, so if your instance is using Shift-JIS and someone else's is using Windows-1251, you get garbled shit.
@alpine_thistle @melissasage So, basically just putting reCAPTCHA on it.
Enbies: Sadly, we don't have enough data to build a statistical model yet, but we all know they are going have a better one than men.
If I was a youtuber I'd end every video with a setup where you think I'm about to talk about one of the 5 companies that sponsors youtube videos but instead it's an alternative that's just as good but free
Like I start talking about privacy online and you think "oh it's NordVPN" but I'm talking about Tor. Or I talk about learning new skills but instead of Brilliant or CuriosityStream or SkillShare it's your local public library, or makerspace, or arXiv/libgen/archive.org/etc
I talk about struggling to remember different passwords but when you think I'm gonna say "try dashlane!" I just go "use your browser's built-in password manager. did you seriously forget about that? really? every single browser offers to remember your passwords for you, why are you paying money for this shit"
