Here's an ECG from a game, with a rough scribbled on normal heartbeat for comparison. Notice how the game's ECG lacks a T wave and seemingly is missing that Q interval (or it has no P wave and 2 RS complexes). This bugs me intensely.

(delete and redrafted because I forgot the image caption)

You know how sometimes you learn about something and suddenly you can't stop seeing every instance of it being done completely wrong? Yeah, that's me and ECGs right now. I've learned the structure of a normal ECG output, and so now I can't see (incorrect) fictional ECG output without going "Wait a second, that's not how those work!"

Covid, photography

Yesterday, I walked to a nearby park only to discover a depressing scene. Today, I walked back with my phone to document it.

I love generic honor society invites. "I'd like to commend you for your hard work last semester." Bitch, I took a fucking medical withdrawal last semester, who the fuck are you tryin' to kid?

ph (-), mildly gross

You ever just have one of those sneezes where you end up ripping your sinuses out?

@frameacloud So, W95 had a 16-/32-bit hybrid kernel. Some programs from that time were written as 16-bit programs, other were written 32-bit. 64-bit Windows hasn't been able to run the former for quite some time (W7 at least, maybe Vista). If you want to run those, something like a W95 or (32-bit) Win XP VM is probably your best bet.

(I'm assuming not being able to run things is what you're having problems with. In any case, though, a VM is probably your best bet.)

re: Bad Linux lifehacks

And, of course, in all seriousness, don't do this unless you're sure it won't break shit. proj_api.h only checks for this macro to bitch at you for not having it and I'm pretty sure nothing else on my system relies on proj_api.h. And, of course, I'm a trained professional editing on a closed course. Don't try this at home

re: Bad Linux lifehacks

Ok, but seriously, I got an error trying to build gplates about needing to define an accept deprecated proj_api.h macro and I literally went in to /usr/include/proj_api.h and commented out that check. It seems to be fine. After all, that's the only place that macro is checked for and the program's building fine.

Bad Linux lifehacks

Trying to build a program from source but getting a fatal error from some header about needing to enable a macro? Just comment out that check in the header!

This tip brought to you by me doing that exact thing to get a program to compile.

"Im 18, in the middle of this crisis, my parents have kicked me out. I'm now lugging around possessions and couch hopping. I could use the money for food and assisting in getting me places to stay. I just enrolled back into high school and now have no steady place to do anything. I'm unemployed currently. And i just recently had a cystoscopy for a kidney stone and discovered I have a bulging lumbar disc. I'm searching for a job right now and have been but its difficult"

Took ten tries to get the video small enough, but here ya go. The shitty wafer lock on my desk.

Reminds me of that thing about opening a car door with a popsicle stick. (Yes, those are also wafer locks.)

Today in "Wafer locks are bad and you should seriously replace any you own," it turns out I can open and close the wafer lock on my desk using nothing but scissors. All it takes is a little bit of jiggling. Give me a minute, and I'll give you some video.
