i hate capitalism for making art about *competing* with other artists, rather than collaborating with them.
"you can't go into music its too competitive" "there's a million people more qualified than you"
under communism all the artists will have stable jobs making art they love
& when a kid tells their parents they wanna go into arts, the parents will encourage them, & talk about all their favorite artists that maybe the kid'll get to collaborate with one day.
Trans question
@ak@beach.city I suppose let me add my own voice to the pile. I've not been an adult for particularly long (I turn 21 next month), but I've not transitioned yet largely due to social anxiety. Like, money is a bit of a concern right now as is safety, but it's mostly me being too scared to actually do the things I need to do to start transitioning. I mean, I've been meaning to go talk to a nearby LGBT clinic for over a month now, but haven't because anxiety.
@cdmnky Picard also broke his hand from the look of it
I saw something earlier asking if those of us in the US wanted to switch to metric when the boomers were gone. Honestly, yes, but why wait?! Let's just do it! Start using metric and act oblivious as to what imperial units are (except where absolutely required such as when dealing with your medical professionals)! They'll either catch on eventually or die off. Either way, we'll finally be in agreeance with literally *almost every country in the world*

@octet33@mastodon.technology Long story short, even if you are actively suicidal, tell you therapist/psychiatrist/psychologist! They can and will help you in the least restrictive way possible! Whether this be meds (suicidal ideation is why I was put on lithium), talking you down, giving you tools to deal with the thoughts, PHP, IOP, or, in the worst case scenario, inpatient, they will do the least restrictive thing that keeps you alive and well.

@octet33@mastodon.technology Another thing to note is that, in cases of involuntary inpatient for suicidal actions, you aren't going to be committed for life or even long periods of time. It will generally be around a week where they try to stabilize you enough to safely discharge you and have you step down to a partial hospitalization program.

@octet33@mastodon.technology Yep! In the US, at least, mental health professionals only go to outside authorities if you're an immediate danger to yourself or others (or in cases of child/elder abuse), and they generally don't want to have to. So even if you are actively planning to kill yourself, they will generally try to talk you down from it, try to convince you to voluntarily go to inpatient if that fails, and only do involuntary inpatient if that fails
