Being able to say 'yeah and?' When your opponent is trying to deligitmize you unfairly is such a power move. It also shows that your movement is at least mostly honest about its goals. If even the warped version of the goals your opponent spits back at you seem reasonable, that's a great sign. It makes you seem reasonable.
Caption reads: The world is not divided into east and west. You are American, I am Iranian. We don't know each other, but we speak and can understand one another perfectly.
The difference between you and your government is much different than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much more than the difference between you and me.
And our governments are quite the same.

Once more for the people in the back:
Put content warnings on your politics posts. I come to Mastodon specifically to avoid the horrible things in the news.
I don't care how urgently you want me to see it. In fact, adding a content warning will make me *more* likely to care, because it will give me time to brace myself.

Your message will get further with a CW. By not CWing your politics etc., you're preventing people from boosting them, because people can't always deal with difficult subjects Right Now. Saying 'I don't CW this/that' gives the impression that you don't care about spreading your message in a meaningful way, you just want to force the closest people to look at it, whether that helps or hurts.
It takes a lot of us awhile to absorb this, but please, try to accept it.
please boost.

No matter where we live, working people have the same enemy: a ruling class that starves, abuses, exploits, neglects us and sends us to die in their ridiculous wars that have nothing to do with us.
I have more in common with any given clock-punching Iranian than I do with the bloodless creeps who run our foreign policy death cult. They're not my "team."
She saw on TV that ghosts made things cold, and she'd always had chilly feet at night.
So she found a stone with a hole through the middle and she waited under the covers until the chill made her toes curl.
Gently, she sat up, closing one eye and holding the stone up to the other.
Shimmering and thin as a beam of moonlight, the cat stretched and resettled on her feet.
She smiled and went back to bed, careful not to kick.
She'd always wanted a cat.

Can we please refer to the seemingly definitely coming conflict in Iran properly? It's not gonna fuckin' be World War III. It's gonna be Iraq War IV (the sequel to Iraq War I, Iraq War II, and Iraq War III: War in Afghanistan). And if you live in the US, no, you're probably not going to die. Unless you're forced into the army by economic necessity, you probably won't even see combat, and there's no fuckin' way this conflict will ever actually hit home.
There's my two cents.

An acquaintance of mine pretty much spot on with this take on the whole Iran thing:

I really really really don't get when people are like "fuck your self care, (important thing) is happening." Like, what do you think it means? It doesn't mean don't ever do anything, just be selfish. It means take care of yourself.
You literally can't do anything for any length of time unless you take care of yourself. You gotta care more about yourself than the people who exploit us.
