My A&P Professor, Abortion

This mans really isn't afraid to start a fight, is he? Apparently, in class on thursday, he straight up got involved on the whole fetal personhood debate, straight up saying that, at least early on, no, it's not a person. As with many of his rants, I don't necessarily disagree, but damn this guy really isn't afraid to start a fight.

ivermectin and conversation around it

It appears there is some evidence that ivermectin can cause sterility in humans with testes.

This is not an opportunity to joke about weeding out the gene pool or whatever.

That’s just straight up eugenics and nazi shit. Keep it out of your mouth and out of your mind and ideally out of your heart.

Racists and other bigots are such because they materially benefit from it, and they enjoy being cruel, not because they have “inferior genes.” Those don’t exist.

Oh boy, Kat's getting herself in trouble again

Of course, this isn't to say that those internals necessarily need to be as locked-away as those on macOS, but it is possible to hide them away and have a system far easier for the average person.

Both Linux and macOS are UNIX{,-like}. Implementation may differ between the two, but they share the same core interfaces and concepts. macOS, though, is far more user-friendly. I mean how many people would even look at macOS compared to Linux, a BSD, or something like AIX and guess they share very similar internals?

Subtoot, I guess?

Issues with Linux being inaccessible to the average user are not a product of the system itself, but rather the result of a community that has no interest in making it accessible to the average user, and you only need look at macOS to understand this.

The insomnia thing (+)

Good news, I managed to get more than 2 hours of sleep last night. Only 4 or 5, but that's better than 1 or 2. Better news, mom's on the way with a refill of my seroquel, so the nightmare is over! I can sleep tonight!

My thoughts on emergency medicine Re:Sleep deprived COVID stupidity hot take

In the EMT textbook I have, the triage chapter has an example with only one red and two blacks. One black is dead. Decapitated. The other is a teenage boy with no pulse. Could he be saved? Maybe. But given this situation, only having two medics on site, you have to leave him for the red tag. And that fucking haunts me. It's an example and it haunts me. I might have to do that one day. Gods forgive me.

And, let me be clear: Triage. Sucks. In field triage, one common system has 4 levels: green, yellow, red, black. Black are "expectant". This isn't just the obviously dead, but those deemed not worth the effort, even if they could still technically be saved. Having to put a black tag on someone saveable fucking sucks, but that's triage. Sometimes, you can't save everyone.

And, I mean, it's not like I'm saying turn 'em all away no matter what. Just take their foolishness and lack of regard for their own safety into account when there's no beds left and you have to make difficult decisions about who gets turned away. Triage sucks, but you don't have to let fools like this live while letting accident victims die.

This gives you an easy fix for ERs and ICUs clogging up with ivermectin overdoses. Bam, most of the ivermectin ODs gone, and the rest had no say in taking it.

Might this seem cruel? Sure, but triage is a difficult thing, and, besides, I'm too sleep deprived to have sympathy for these idiots.

I feel like ER triage should have more of a Darwin factor. Instead of just, "Oh, this person is in worse shape but still salvageable," add on "But they also thought it was a good idea to take a veterinary dose of an antiparasitic for a viral infection while the other guy got shot, so fuck 'em. Save the gunshot victim."

mh (-), meds, insomnia

So, to recap, my psychiatrists office and old pharmacy went back on forth on who was missing refill orders for seroquel, and now I'm working of 2 hours of sleep, a short nap, and caffeine and it's unlikely that my psychiatrist has sent in a refill before closing for the weekend, so I'm probably gonna be out of commission all weekend. Ugh.

Aaaa insomnia

Glad I don't have anything important tomorrow. :P Running out of antipsychotic sucks, y'all. 0/10 do not recommend
