me: sees literally anything related to old hardware
me: "oh i bet half the girls i know on fedi would love this"

@myconidiosyncracy i changed my mind like twelve times trying to answer this but:

an entire murder of crows. each bird is its own individual machine with its own aesthetic. some are sleek black, with no visible markings. some look like they were roughly hammered together from scrap metal. some are intricate filigree clockwork constructions. some are indistinguishable from organic corvids. you know. the works

corona, chuck tingle (lewd)

Chuck Tingle has come to our rescue. He has released not one but TWO FREE tinglers regarding the current state of emehrgency:

"Not Pounded By Anything While I Practice Responsible Social Distancing"

and

"The Physical Manifestation of Washing My Hands Gets Me Off"

@InvaderXan dieselpunk's commentary is generally gonna be toward the rise of fascism and the influences that led to ww2, iwrc

and then we have atompunk like, imperialism bad 2: electric boogaloo. it's focussed on the post-ww2 / cold war era, with commentary mostly on u.s. imperialism as opposed to steampunk talking about—well, from what we've seen it's really just the british—but they have a lot of key themes in common

Steampunk without commentary on the exploitative machinations of imperialism is not steampunk.

Cyberpunk without commentary on capitalism's efforts to buy the world out from under us is not cyberpunk.

Solarpunk without commentary on how to grow a brighter future for everyone instead of submitting to gloom is not solarpunk.

These three make a trifecta of how capitalism took over, what can happen if it continues, and how to prevent it from doing so. What was, is, and still could be.

I would rather look like an oddly graceful and creepy monster if I'm going to be a robot anyway. Why be human shaped at all?

sometimes i think itd be nice to have like one big fund that people could contribute to that would handle emergency expenses for all the people who need it, so im not trying to figure out who to give to and how much, and then i realize thats just what taxes are supposed to be

humans: “wow, i can’t believe AIs can be fooled so easily by just changing a few pixels! AIs sure are dumb”
also humans: “this completely still pattern is *definitely* moving in and out”

@BestGirlGrace @hierarchon NT Person: I want to do a thing. I will now do the thing. I have done the thing.

Camera pan to me, staring in mixed confusion and horror.

@hierarchon I literally cannot imagine being able to force myself to do [thing], even when I know it's something that absolutely has to be done. but apparently some people can?? It's such an alien idea.

is focus really what i imagine it’s like? like, i know that NTs still have problems doing things they don’t want, but the ability for someone to go ‘i want to do this thing, therefore i will go and do it’ is just so fucking outside my cognitive model

[Dracula at the blood donation drive]

nurse: Have you ever had any sexual contact with a man?

Dracula: What is a man?!

nurse, sighing heavily: Sorry, sir. Have you ever had any sexual contact with a miserable little pile of secrets?

daily reminder that any idea you have of what a non-binary person ought to look like is incorrect

i like that it's becoming very common knowledge that numbers above a million actually can't be understood properly by humans. they can be contextualized, and we can do meaningful things with them, but people are starting to really understand that billionaires didn't earn their money

Hey #MastoAdmin and friends of server admins, have you checked up on your friends' instances lately? :blobwhoa:

The recent LetsEncrypt bug has caused a lot of instances to suddenly have invalid certificates over the past few days.
community.letsencrypt.org/t/20

It's causing lots of instances to drop off the fediverse, and a storm of delays in the back-end, so if your timelines seem slow, that's probably why.

what's the best email provider these days? i'd rather not use gmail anymore

boosts appreciated
