When I write, I expect to get feedback and iterate on it until it is polished.

When I code, I deal with people who think they can just type out any slop, and that planning, testing, and reviews are a distraction.

It's bizarre.

I came to tech from writing and design work, where you are expected to save your work, share it, and get it reviewed, but all of these things seem to get treated as alien when you ask programmers to do them.

@dankwraith Reasons why I turned it down when work offered me a Git admin role: 1. Dealing with senior programmers who think learning Git is harder than any of the wizardry they code in their daily lives

I think being a fan of things ruins you. You get really defensive about trivial bullshit and start buying garbage. I'm not going to be a fan of anything ever.

Chapter 1: The Power of Love

The first step in my journey was realizing that it is impossible to defeat fascism with the power of love.

I finished "Return of the Obra Dinn" yesterday, and... wow. I played it over the course of a week, and took longer than howlongtobeat's average by far, but I really loved it.

If you like(d) doing those logic grid puzzles where you needed to suss out who someone was by various features about them vs other people in the grid, "Obra Dinn" is exactly that. If the colors in the trailer are offputting, there are several other options. I went straight b/w.

Privilege = private + law = one law for group A, one law for everyone else

Privilege =/= all advantages

Being able-bodied is privilege. The built environment was built FOR YOU.

I've been looking into it, and I'm pretty sure that all programming languages are terrible, though some of them for different reasons than others.

I can never forgive my second ex for taking me to see Clone Wars. I wake up at night and think about sand

It's not that I hate Star Wars, it's that I hate being forced to watch movies and I especially hate hearing about my partner getting into online arguments where they "own" a "n00b" who doesn't even know who Raygun Spielbergus is or some bullshit
