“Were there any straight people in this period of history?”
“Well...obviously speaking, there must have been some people that nowadays
we would describe as ‘straight’, but we have to be very careful about applying
modern standards of sexuality to the past. I'm sure if you asked anybody at the
time if they were straight, they would have been very confused. And there's
something quite dangerous about forcing identities onto people who might not
consider themselves that way. You also need to keep in mind that some things
that today would seem ‘straight’ to us - like getting married, having children, etc. -
were just the way things were back then. Nobody would have thought twice about
doing that, including non-straight people. And there were plenty of people who
undoubtedly got married, had very intensely emotional connections with their
spouse, but then went off to go see their lover. Again, sexuality is a very complex
thing, so I wouldn't presume to state definitively that anybody was ‘straight’, and
especially not without good, solid evidence that they were exclusively
heterosexual, To presume otherwise would not only be making a lot of
assumptions, it might even just promote harmful, overdone stereotypes about
what makes someone ‘have’ to be straight, you know? So, yes, technically
speaking there were, but I don't see any reason to specifically consider straight
people historically.”

Abuse
I once had an abusive relative contact me on LinkedIn, while I was in the middle of a massive job search. They decided to message me to apologize (in an insulting way, ofc). I flipped the fuck out. I blocked them and got really paranoid about using the site for weeks.
Help finding depictions of positive masculinity in media, Please boost
Hey, so it's not too difficult to find games, movies, comics, etc that specifically depict powerful female protagonists and/or trans women because these works tend to specifically be labeled as such.
I have a friend, who is a trans man, that's trying to find works that depict inspiring male role models. He's trying to find works to better help him understand positive masculinity. Does anyone have any ideas?
@Red On another instance, I joked how relieved I was that the guys who worked on Homestar Runner had never turned out to become Nazis.
One of my instance-mates took offense and condescendingly implied that they had been involved in a horrible scandal, even if they were not outright white supremacists.
As far as I know, they had the Homestar guys mixed up with someone else, but I got so irritated by their smug response that I wound up using the instance less and less.

Trust me, I've yelled about cws plenty. Some accounts never use cws. That's their prerogative. You are allowed to mute or block those ppl. That onus is on you.
Asking strangers to cw is gonna get you backlash. No one wants to be told to cw by a stranger. Sometimes, if it's your friend and they do it nicely, it works. But no one is going to assume fair play from a stranger on the internet.
Trans, guy of center, well over 18.
I'm in tech and it feels weird.
