An in-game Pokemon-themed videogame must exist, since every Pokemon game contains a Nintendo console inside the protagonist's own bedroom. And Pokemon has been a Nintendo mainstay ever since the first Pokemon game was released in our world.

The Pokedex exists because the characters we play in the game need data on Pokemon to compete and train.

Perhaps there is a Pokemon-themed video game in the Pokemon universe, which has its own Pokemon encyclopedia.

Perhaps as we go down each level from reality to fiction in-game fiction, the encyclopedia become less informative, because the writers have less access to the true nature of Pokemon.

We give the Pokedex shit for wild and improbable claims about Pokemon, but then, in the real world, we have Bulbapedia's trivia section, where we will always find absolutely buckwild bullshit.
