@KellyGreen well they are very cute! Id like to know when you find out :blobcat:

One of the professors where I work collected some tadpoles and snails from a pond to keep them in the lab for a week or so for students to observe. They are so cute.

Finally polished up some of the slime mold photos from last night's microscopy session. I'm fairly confident this is the species Metatrichia vesparia; big thanks to @regularslimeguy.bsky.social for some tips that helped nail down the ID! :neocat_happy:

I don't think I'll ever get over the attribution of "elevated sense of justice" as a "symptom" of autism. My sibling in science. This is not what you discovered. What you discovered is that "willingness to cheat when nobody is watching" or (perhaps, even) "virtue signaling" are symptoms of allism.

Autistic people have the sense of justice that allistic people
claim to follow. Autistic people are more likely to actually behave ethically, regardless of whether anyone is watching or there is a social reward for it. This is not a weird foible with autists! This is a wild ethical breach by allists! Willingness to compromise on your stated ethical values is not "normal" regardless of how common it may be. Thats's weird! And troubling!

That's something worth looking into when it comes to allistic people. Leave autistic people with our propensity to simply believe and act accordingly out of your doublethink.

I found this amazing beastie in a rockpool today.

It looks like a really large ragworm. The size of a small snake.

The American Liberals are so against Trump and for the rule of law that they will not allow people talk about the unlawful crime of Trump administration against the activist green card holder Mahmoud Khalili.

The kids are sick because they have been repeatedly infected with a full body damaging virus that makes you more vulnerable to all other types of harm.

Seems like all the push for / use in is coming from a guy named Gregory Terzian. Who is a medium article writer and seems too really love Leslie Lamport and TLA+ and believes "how to future proof your career? Learn TLA+."
You can go read his articles and post on reddit under the handle polyglot_factotum

@nebula mmh i see, im sorry you dont have many options.
that whole thing is a bunch of misconceptions, like yeah you dont want to cough or vomit after surgery but weed isnt gonna make you vomit and isnt addictive so you could just not smoke it till the stitches come out or as you said edibles. Im sorry you got some weirdo who knows nothing about weed. You might be able to find a patient advocate who works for the hospital or your insurance(if you have it) good luck getting the things you need.

@nebula i know you dont know me, so tell me to fuck off if im overstepping. But a surgeon telling you, you have to stop smoking weed in general before they will operate is a red flag to me. Like i can see requering that u dont come into surgery high. But thats it.

For all you kids, a fax is like an email but a machine screams it through a landline telephone to a printer.

witch hunting trans women for having the gall to talk to younger trans girls is a fear campaign to try to prevent us from helping eachother (with hrt, deworming, social isolation, etc). if you see a trans woman talking to a trans kid and assume she's being predatory, you are hitler.

Micro SD cards suck in the field. When you drop one in grass it's as good as gone.

@moss You can take benadryl when u get a migraine. Its what they give you in the er but iv, plus reglan for nausea so you can take dramamine for nausea. Now for preventives, cgrp inhibitors are really the only thing made specifically for migraines and there are no side effects besides sleepness for 24 hours after injection. You might even be able to get your pcp to prescribe it. It lasts for a whole month and it doesnt wear off like botox. I had daily migraines and now i only have 4 in a month

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines.

When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

👴🏻 Everything is terrible!
👩🏿Yes. We're all being attacked by racists.

👴🏻I don't know how to stop this!
👩🏿Again, oppose the racists and the racism.

👴🏻I don't think that's right? Maybe we should march?
👩🏿 Against racism?

👴🏻What? No! I mean, we need strong borders, and DEI has gone too far...
👩🏿*Sigh*

👴🏻Let's march for my 401k first, and then march for my job next, and then let's reassess and see if we still need any more marches.
👩🏿I... kinda feel like you'll stop marching again once your 401k is back and your job is secure.

👴🏻Rude! You're not being very inspirational! You're making me feel sad!

business elites having a collective shit fit meltdown because the guy they bought the election for is doing exactly what he promised really demonstrates the prodigious genius and mental acuity of your average capitalist
