hot take but i hope more Twitter people move to Mastodon because it's a better platform and trying to keep it Exclusive for the sake of The Culture ignores the fact that Twitter is actively harming folks and you don't have to interact with Twitter people if you don't want to. People who aren't used to the rules here will of course have to learn them, but once they do, I don't see the issue
New users: I've written a guide to Mastodon, which you can find here: https://github.com/joyeusenoelle/GuideToMastodon/
It was originally brief, but it keeps growing. o_o
so the friend is just really forgiving of her because of how serious and deeply awful her trauma is. he knows her actions are bad but feels that they're not malicious. knowing his perspective of it and how deep her trauma is helps me understand him better... i don't totally agree with him but i understand it and i'm glad he's not irreverent toward the whole thing
i understand there are people out there who don't care about what she did and is doing and i couldn't care less about them but when it's someone i care about and like a lot it's really upsetting and i don't know how to feel about this
@maple makes sense, thanks!
@maple ah okay so following them doesn't retroactively federate their toots? that makes sense. and is that user-by-user, or does following one user on an instance make that whole instance federate to yours?
@maple thanks! been like 10 months, haha... hard to balance mastodon being a better site + platform vs. all my friends being on twitter. we'll see how it works out!
just a heads up - I'm gonna be moving back to @cigazze@anticapitalist.party for now. The bugs I'm getting on here rn are getting in the way of using it
