violence against women
RT @debcha@twitter.com
On this day in 1989, a gunman walked into an engineering school in Montreal and began to systematically shoot the female students. Fourteen women died.
I was a junior at the University of Toronto at the time.
I wrote about it on its 25th anniversary. https://tinyletter.com/metafoundry/letters/metafoundry-17-twenty-five-years-later

If you make access to hormones difficult, youβre not stopping people from transitioning hormonally, youβre forcing them to do it at great cost and without any medical supervision.
RT @typer_uma@twitter.com
Free access to hormones is the only way forward.
People who want to transition will find access to hormones, either in the pharmacy or in the grey market. Cutting access from the former pushes people to the latter. This is as true for kids as for adults.

LGB Alliance recently boasted of a worldwide network of anti-trans "LGB" groups under the banner #LGBInternational
In Ireland, Wales, Australia, America, Canada, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Iceland , Norway and Serbia.
I did some analysis and found some interesting results.

We waited some weeks for the BBC to be ready to cover our legal action to protect the legal rights of trans children. And the piece is up and is quite extraordinary. I'm not going to link to it because it is inaccurate and gives space to a transphobic hate group.

I have spent a lot of time chatting to cis people about what it's really like to be trans and the fact is that most people are, unfortunately, entirely ignorant of how hard it is to be trans in the UK.
So here is a thread of things you probably ought to know:

Today itβs #TransDayOfRemembrance I will be remembering the 350 people we lost this year, and know about; and the countless others we have lost to murder and their own hand this year.
