on trans pride
@maple It's true that blaming trans people for their negative self-concept is not a good response. I think that comes from trans people who do finally love themselves feeling as if that can be taken from them and trying erroneously to defend it.
If they're upset it should be at transphobes and systems of cissexism that attempt to draw impassible lines between trans and cis people.
on trans pride
@maple Pride in the first place means the opposite of shame. "Trans pride" is an attempt to build a mindset that we don't have to be ashamed of ourselves.
Generally I find that trans people who aren't proud and do hate being trans are trans people without any support or connection with a supportive trans community.
Dysphoria and self-hate aren't innate. They come from being mistreated. I think that's very important to remember.
@ADA_SIX Especially given that they never respect the terms of debate they insist on. Tons of their pundits admit it's their goal to embarrass opponents rather than have a more convincing argument.
@ADA_SIX Seriously, what's to debate? The relative pros and cons of baby cages? Debate implies any middle ground is acceptable.
