The captain even tried to run the ship aground to let his passengers escape, but the Coast Guard blocked him on orders from the Secretary of State. The St. Louis was eventually forced to return to Europe with its passengers, about 250 of whom were later murdered by the Nazis.

Clarification: the shelter is no-kill, but no one is likely to adopt a 13 year old cat, and a shelter is a bad situation for a cat to live out the rest of her life in.

Hey, so a friend of a friend is having issues with her.... mildly abusive mother, who is trying to throw out her 13 year old cat (has done so once and is abusing said friend over the cat coming back). Is there anyone in the Boston area who could potentially foster a cat for a few months until she can get out of that living situation? If we can't find a place for the cat to live, I'm afraid it might have to go to a shelter, which would likely kill it.
