"Capitalism promotes innovation"
There are so many things to unpack here: the fact that these neo-hippies exploit resources and labor in foreign countries, the idea that pink table salt is "magical" and "natural," the belief of white people that merely adding salt is "seasoning all your food" and the fact that there are schmucks who bought this crap home, use it and actually think they haven't been duped.
education, college
@KitsuneAlicia@octodon.social
I'll be honest, it's the brand and accessibility to academics with large brands. That's about it. The infrastructure sucks, the pay is meager and if you're researching something no one knows about it's still on you. Hardly ever all that money you paid is to purchase your education, it's to purchase the license to use the brand of the school on your resumé.
Rant - The 90s and The Simpsons
I used venerate the 90s but more and more I am noticing how a great deal of it had humour that referred to homosexuals in a negative way, like some of prank calls Bart made were homosexual reference and they were meant to mock Queer Community. There was never a golden age of that show.
Tokenism became prevalent in 90s as well which was never genuine and just meant to appease us. Really, as much as I grew up in the 90s it was Dumpster fire and looking back I was never my true self so I was not even truly happy, nostalgia clouds the mind.
90s humour made LGBT+ the butt of so many jokes and we allowed it, even laughed, now we look back on disdain and wonder why did we allow it.
you know how everyone says the thing that makes humans special is our cultural knowledge?
By that measure, Orcas are humans.
So why do we still have them isolated in tanks?
