"non-binary" isn't just "no gender" or "between male and female," it's a collective name for a massive number of different gender affiliation outside the established gender binary. We're not a uniform mass. We're an intricate system designed by each individuals to accommodate for our own needs. The best analogy would be merely calling any non-vertebrate phylums "invertebrates."
