hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i wanna art but i also Dont Wanna

People that create mods for games (yaay!) that are sold through places like GOG, which are just plain better than Steam... but they choose to only publish the result of their mod work through "Steam Workshop", which actively works to exclude people that use better distribution platforms that Steam, instead of publishing their mods through explicitly open platforms compatible with everything, like ModDB and Nexus Mods...
why?

I see no reason why you would let Steam use your work to ensure a stronger grasp on the throat of game-developers and extracting even worse a profit margin for doing nothing from your fellow gamers,
when places like e.g. ModDB instead strives to achieve the opposite with more independent game development, more open source sharing of mod-components and tools.
Is it yourselves you hate or is it everyone else?

me: *sees art of characters ive never seen before*
