@pbandkate tbh while i understand people finding the word upsetting its not like... more offensive than "gay", the people who use the word as a slur use gay with the same malice.

@pbandkate speaking as a person who also identifies as queer, iirc “gay” and “lesbian” had been slurs before as well, before being reclaimed by the community. You should of course do your best to minimize the trauma you inflict on others, but when it comes to your identity and how you navigate through the world, I feel like we each ought to tend our own garden.
