Mastodon is really chock-full of queerphobes isn't it? The only people the queer community isn't intrinsically for are cisgender heterosexual heterorimantic perisex and any disgusting breed of gatekeepers. Anyone other than that belongs here. If you regurgitate truscum rhetoric of genders and sexualities, you're still low life trash.

Aha, Facebook has now closed another gate to those who don't have an account. Previously the pop-up that suggested to log-in or create an account gave the option to click on a "not now" button and continue browsing pages etc. It is no longer there...

2019 is gonna be the year we:
- write better image captions!
- use clearer content warnings!
- speak more positively about ourselves!
- call each other out gently on small mistakes!
- bring down two or more national governments!
- get better at setting, insisting on and respecting boundaries!

good vibes only this year ✨

damn young justice was really held back by cartoon network. they're upping how graphic the violence is on dc universe in a good way

police violence, swatting

pretty interesting that we've just come to accept that swatting is a thing. like its just normal that cops are fucking brainless instruments of doom that will blindly maim or kill anything you put in front of them

i would, elect pac man for president, but the fucking basterd would never be elected. he would eat the entire supreme court, and they would float around as eye balls until they return back to their chambers and reform as judges.

police violence, swatting

government propaganda on film and tv: SWAT teams are the most elite police units. they have trained for years to be able to strike with surgical precision

reality: woops we shot this random guy who got accidentally swatted a good 15 times in the chest because we gave him ten different contradictory things to do with his arms. we also shot his fucking dog lmao that was just for funsies

transphobia, joke

@danishcookies denmark? more like southern scania

anyway a summary is that while the still largely patriarchal and homophobic culture that informs most translations of the bible is very much wrong about whether or not LGBT individuals are welcome in the kingdom of god, it does appear that the translations of the bible don't seem to allow for the possibility of legitimate sex work while still being able to be a devout christian. also, unsurprisingly, the not-pagan thing condemns pagan actions

And men who worked to make themselves more attractive, “whether they were trying to attract men or women, were called effeminate.” They saw all pleasure-seeking men as effeminate, whomever they sought pleasure with. In first-century Roman terms, most pro-wrestlers in the WWF (manly men by our definitions) would be considered effeminate, because of their apparent interest in fancy, hyper-masculine costumes and posturing.

Paul wasn’t condemning men who swish and carry purses; he was condemning a type of moral weakness. The ancient Roman and Greek understanding of what it meant to be manly or womanly was quite different from today. First-century Romans didn’t think of effeminacy as merely a homosexual trait. In that culture, any man who was more interested in pleasure than in duty was considered to be woman-like.

bible verses, discussion of ancient attitudes on LGBT

In the patriarchal culture of the time, women were thought to be weaker than men, more fearful, more vulnerable, and more vain. Thus, men who ate too much, liked expensive things, were lazy, or liked to dress well were considered “soft like a woman.” Although this type of misogynistic thinking is intolerable in our modern society, it was common in ancient times and explains why the King James Version translated malakoi as “effeminate.”

And, as other Scriptures affirm, it is more generally a condemnation of the mistreatment of those who are most vulnerable, including strangers. It is ironic that the story of Sodom is now used by Christians to justify hatred toward another vulnerable group — gay people.
