My dad is a fucking child who is trying to live out his ancap fantasies and "American free culture" as a bourgeoisie fuck. It's both sad and disgusting.

@Wenin I have never used an S6, but for my S5,
I remember it was like getting a zip-file (CF-Auto-Root) and a flashing-program ("Odin") for the computer, holding three buttons on the phone on reboot, selecting the file and after it rebooted again it was done.
No idea if that's the case for the S6. Sorry.

@Wenin That's usually the first step, so if you're not sure, that was probably it. ;-)
Well, how that's done differs very much from device to device, but new easier methods do get developed, so it may be worth checking again.
Sometimes it's as easy as "Download this app and run it. Click the only button." (towelroot). :-D

@Wenin Which "it" do you mean? A custom ROM? A rooting solution?

The first time doing some of those may be very challenging, depending on device.
In other cases, rooting/reflashing can be so easy that I've literally done it on the bus going home from getting a new device. :-)

Do you have an Android-based device?

If so, do you want it to do more than what the manufacturer decided you should want? Of course you do!
If you wanted a device software-controlled by Capitalist decrees, you would be using Apple instead.

Well, for almost every Android-device ever, there is a specific sub-forum at forum.xda-developers.com/
Almost always, if there exists any custom ROM, rooting, custom kernel, etc for the device, it will be found there.
Often, those that develop the methods that give us full device access (root) or adapt pre-release versions of Android to run even on no longer officially maintained devices... they hang out there.
