I spend an awful lot of time watching "informational" youtube videos and im 99% sure I never actually learn anything, I just trick my brain into thinking it's learning. Same goes for documentaries, like, I can never actually remember anything I "learnt" from one of those

Sometimes I look up a language I don't know much about to see if it looks very interesting. For some languages I read through the "Getting Started" guide and find myself really wanting to try it out myself.

Perl is not one of those languages, just had a look through the first page of their getting started guide and oh god I'm glad I haven't had to touch it yet, it pretty much just lists a bunch of super arbitrary pieces of inconsistent syntax examples as though they are convenient.

I swear bedside tables just generate books like I don't even really read any more and I can't remember owning any of these books but any time I clear it there is a different book sitting on it after a few days at most
