i think being mentally ill on the internet was a mistake because its like. wow i have this shitty little rectangle in my pocket and when i use it i get instant access to millions of opinions that i dont care about just in case i needed to get pissed off instantly

@goroakechi Counterpoint, I was mentally ill on the internet in the early to mid 2000s and those are my only happy childhood/teenage memories. Modern mainstream internet is totally focused on getting clicks and money over doing anything useful though yeah, and that hits us way harder too cause the modern internet also doesn't give a shit about us or our needs. the old net wasn't necessarily designed to help us but the design ethos of the FOSS hippies was definitely more into accessibility.

@Arragonder it’s definitely gotten far worse than it used to be. i have happy internet memories as well, but ever since 2014-ish it’s seemed like a steep slope downwards into hell, especially for sites like tumblr.
