If you’re new to Mastodon, you may at some point find that you’re being pressured to put your posts behind a content warning (CW). Although CWs make sense for things like images of violence or nudity, some people are bullying others to put CWs on discussions of politics, racism, etc.
Please know that you should not feel pressured to obey these individuals. They do not speak for all. If someone does not want to be exposed to these topics, Mastodon gives them all the tools they need to avoid them, such as keyword filters and the ability to block or mute people who are posting things they don’t like.
@MathMan05 hi
@celyandil that is honestly my main concern as well, is how difficult it’s becoming to find others that are similar. as well as the fact that “‘kin” is really the only term to properly describe my experiences, and i would prefer not having that term taken from me
@celyandil ive heard that term, as well as “synpath” i believe. maybe it’s just been my bad luck, but most of the people i come across nowadays who use the term “kin” tend to spread misinformation like “being otherkin isn’t that serious, we don’t actually believe we’re this” or “it’s just for fun” or etc. it’s a bit frustrating
@celyandil it’s an otherkin thing, about how people have sort of co-opted the term to mean “i relate to this” instead of “in some shape or form i literally am this”
26/he/gay. kin before it was cool. im hot and my personality is disordered.
