@dade @hellamander that looks yummy! I have the same problem where the book recipes exceed my bar supply, so my tiki drinks are a bit samey. Haha. (I think there's a paragraph in the front that says something like "tiki doesn't have to be involved, you can get a basic bar going with just 8 kinds of rum") >.>
@tanaki yes!!!! doooo it!
@maxx it crossed my mind!!!

i think the author has good & interesting points, and i was glad to read a more serious counterpoint than the usual "twitter sucks but the fediverse is confusing"
but there are some things i disagree with:

I like especially the foot note at the end!
(I'm pretty sure it's just a (btw good) joke. But you can really buy that for a one-time purchase of $7.99.)
It was great to see everyone at PawCon this weekend!!! Buuuut MAN i had forgotten how rough it is on my social batteries to try to see old friends and think of something to say. The next day I thought of like 30 better conversation topics than "uhhhh hi good to see you boy it's been a long time" that I wish I'd said. Next time I need to like prepare a powerpoint deck or something. lol
@Treycat oh wow that is fascinating history! Yes i agree that since its out of my hands after i donate and vote, just like tell me the answer at the end. Haha. I don't want to devote hours/days of my life watching a needle waver randomly between "plodding centrism" and "climate disaster".
@zachgregoire welcome! good to see ya on here <3 hmu if you have masto qns!
american banks: "Listen, i know we talk every day, but I'm just feeling anxious about, you know, us. i think there's something you may not be telling me? Your address, your phone number... even though you've lived in the same place for 10 years and had your phone for 20... I just feel like these might have changed and you aren't telling me. Also what's your income?"
Whisper (the AI based transcription software) is Very Good and Pretty Fast and also free and able to run locally without a ton of ridiculous work.
It generates passable subtitles very quickly. There are some errors, but they're the kind of errors you'd get from a transcription service as well.
It'll also do translations.
Based on my efforts so far, this means I can generate passable english subtitles for the media we're producing, which we can then massage in to Production Ready subtitles, with very little effort. Passable files in 5 minutes or less.
But, more impressively, I was able to get Usable subtitles, in english, for non-english-language stuff, at the same rate.
Just ... push button, get translated subtitles from audio.
