@Petra@social.wxcafe.net it eats at me constantly. in the area of crisis intervention especially it feels like people assume that either you're good at helping people or you're not, and if you're not well then there's nothing anyone can do about that. we don't do that with tech or with medicine or any other helpful skill. we desperately need that kind of help to be available (probably more than ever) but it can't be if the only way people can learn to provide it is in studying to make a job out of it

in terms of mental health, why is it so hard to get a hold of literally any material to help you help people

anybody have experience with the trans crisis & peer support hotline? volunteering gets you training so i'd like that but i'm closeted
