Over the past 15 years of using #XMPP, I've seen many messengers come and go. People complain about the hassle of switching messengers, but many express a preference for the "simplicity" of gated gardens.... Do they count the cost of switching as well?
A truly sustainable messenger can only be a decentralized protocol, not just an app.

Take a Moment - but actually, a human moment, as a base unit of time, that we can use when writing software. No, really! :) https://kath-leinir.blogspot.com/2021/04/take-moment.html @kde@mastodon.technology #floss

#PinePhone: Do you really want #Linux phones
Also, on a vaguely related note (Peruse runs on this thing! ;) - my video about the PinePhone is relevant again, as they just opened for preorders of the beta version of what will eventually become the consumer PinePhone, based on Plasma Mobile on Manjaro :) https://youtu.be/SOlcVXvqJi0 to see the video, or https://pine64.com/product-category/pinephone/ if you already know that it's usd200 well spent ;)
My Season of @kde@mastodon.technology student Mahmoud's just published a blog entry talking about his most recent escapades into the land of comic books in Peruse, and its creator tool as well. Doing some really great work there! :) https://ma-khalil.github.io/Refining-Peruse-Creator/

@carl@linuxrocks.online Just one of those "what people expect" type situations where... sure, it could be an option but also there's not really a good reason to make it one, so... maybe we could make it explicit that "tall window gets right-aligned you-bubbles, wide window gets all left-aligned", which would be really easy to read for the user... but either of those would probably do the trick :)
@carl@linuxrocks.online Telegram's handling of it's pretty neat - basically, sufficiently narrow and you get the right/left split because it reads comfortably (basically what you have here), but wider and you get all same-aligned, and... it works pretty well :) (i have a weird one where my display's so wide that half the width of my display's still too wide, so i've got a lop-sided look on my chat VD, but even then, it works :) )
@aldersprig If audio fits, thevoice.dog is narrated short fiction, and the main requirement for submissions is "no downers", so maybe that's an option :)
