I still have this card sitting here and there's not much I can do with it. The seller says they tested it, I don't have any way to prove it's not just incompatible with the 12 yr old motherboard i'm trying to use it in
But also my recent developments in GB dumping stuff have accelerated my timeline for retiring the old pc since i'm no longer reliant on its onboard parallel port so I'm not particularly bothered about giving it displayport anymore
So in the end I just wasted 50 quid
I also want to write a blog post about all of this but being real don't hold your breath on that one
In the meantime WinterMute has kindly released the source code for the original Xboo Communicator (https://github.com/devkitPro/xcomms) but I was already too deep in the hole on this implementation for now so I stuck with it, just used the original source for reference in some places
But I might look at modifying the original at some point later
Well I've released my modified parallel port version of the xboo reimplementation. It works on modern windows and linux and supports expansion cards. I called it xboop

For all the flaws and issues with cohost, I think it’s fair to say their shutdown likely has a lot to do with credit card companies’ purity culture war agenda domino chain. Sure, it’s complicated and so many things (burnout is real and terrible); but credit card companies have created a near impossibility to build a “content creator subscription service” on the web; which has eaten away at existing and established platforms—who just have enough power, relationships, and resources to “adapt”.
