apparently the CC option has issues so i have been setting up alipay and worldfirst instead. i still don't know if i'll actually go through with a purchase but i had to do a ton of verification to get this far. the alibaba group now has pretty much every piece of identifying information about me
re: ukpol. cunts. transphobia
why might a colossal transphobe like streeting want to keep under 16s off social media. i wonder. what he thinks. they are "catching" on here
The new character art for this version is good by the way. I think all you furry old man likers out there are sleeping on Ataho
So would I recommend it? Sort of??? It is undeniably cool that a Disc Station game got remade & localised, & if you want a short, quirky martial arts RPG with good pixel art starring a pissed up tiger and don't mind the bad loc (or understand JP/KR) then by all means get it. Maybe on sale though
The other big problem for me is that the English localisation is bad
On a basic quality level it's full of mistakes and inconsistencies but the fatal flaw really is for a game that's supposed to be full of humour and quirky characters, so much of it is just flattened out. Everyone talks the same
The question is... will I actually go for all that?
It's a game with a lot of charm and a lot going for it but it also has problems
The encounter rate is high which makes exploration pretty tedious & I'm not currently relishing the idea of a big ass no-save-points mazelike bonus dungeon full of that
Well I reached an ending..! There were some secrets I missed, I didn't get the true final boss, there's a post-game dungeon I haven't tried yet, and two new chapters added to this version depending on your performance in that dungeon. But it's a short game & the intent is you'll replay it
As for Gensei Suikoden, not being familiar with the original I didn't realise at first, but "Plus" actually has completely redrawn graphics, so all this very nice pixel art is brand new. Here's some comparison shots via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQd7bdvnbho
If Gensei Kaishingeki looks familiar to you & you're the particular kind of weirdo I am, you might have played the arcade game Shocking by Yun Sung which ripped it off pretty closely
