I'm thinking of stealing the whole "the surface is poisonous and you need a gasmask to go out there" thing from Metro 2033, and making a half life 2 mod based around that.
@lizardsquid i had a whole setting based on it back in the day, it was cool. i should revive that. it had some neat ideas
