its like, i talk to people on the matter of music and stuff and its like, very few have large sprawling music collections, both in the digital realm and with physical music collections.
people might buy a record or two on vinyl because they want to experience it or something but don't usually have like, a full hifi setup or a setup made for listening to music.
it's become much more... background noise.
Even when i have it playing in the background, its not background noise... I'm still listening to it, fairly intently regardless of genre, the whole process of it applying energy to me is by that active listening. It might make me really excited as a deep driving riff flows through me with the power of a massive river or calm me as soothing sounds gently run like a slow stream though my mind.
But for so many others it just seems like... noise to blank out other noise in an area.
Meh. If this is the hill i build my fort and defend with my life with, so be it.
@rachel I listen to completely different genres for when I'm listening vs when I'm trying to block out noise for sensory reasons... but it's always weirded me out when I meet people who ONLY listen to music for background noise
@lizardsquid for me it just never is blocking out background noise. It might serve that purpose on top of it, but I'd rather listen to white noise if i strictly wanted to block out music... i cant't even understand using it to do that ever tbh.
Regardless of what i'm doing the music becomes a big part and is just infectious for me.
