ATTN: QUEER FOLKS

I have a legitimate question for y'all!

Do you feel AMAB/AFAB can be used as nouns or only as adjectives?

It occurs to me I've really only ever seen it used in, like, Masto bios and similar things and, thus, don't know the actual accepted use of it in this regard.

@lizardsquid In my head (I don't know about anyone else), AMAB and AFAB are pronounced like words, not initialisms, so my mind wants to treat them like words. I was talking to my partner about opening up a sexy coffee stand staffed "By men and AMABs" and then immediately realized that might not be the best way to word it.

@witchfynder_finder oh I see!

as a linguist, I'm obliged to say that nouns are an open class and that creative additions to the set of nouns is always cool!

as a person, though, I feel like it's easier to just say "amab people"

@lizardsquid Yeah. Kinda hard to argue "But in English zero derivation is a perfectly allowable grammatical function and, thus, using AMAB as a noun isn't actually offensive!" =P
