Yeah, I retook Calculus. Squeaked by with a D. This after staring dumbfounded at the final exam for half an hour before turning in a nearly empty answers booklet and walking out. I can only assume a very steep grading curve saved me.
As for why Calculus is expected to be learned by hand on a computer science track, because it's purpose is not to teach you how to get answers to calculus problems. You don't need them to do CS. It's purpose is to keep the gates.
