the paper title is pretty opaque
what they describe though is a system for purifying water where the force required is provided by osmotic pressure instead of a pump!
water gets sucked out of the input crud into a tank full of polymer goo
that makes the polymer goo want to swell up
which squeezes water out of it on the other side!
