@Fenreliania oh!!!
I'm gonna run a tabletop RPG for you soon, then!
(not D&D though because D&D is... actually I'll save that story for another day! but I generally prefer more flexible and less unnecessarily complex systems)
@Fenreliania aaaaaa dungeonworld aaaaa ♥
@lizardsquid I've kinda wanted to run a dungeonworld campaign that does a sort of Bloodborne/Helsing style thing of hunting dangerous and strange midnight beasts, but with some Heiron style twists.
@Fenreliania heck that'd be great!
have you seen monster of the week?
@lizardsquid I have not
@Fenreliania it's a powered by the apocalypse game about hunting monsters!!!!
it's pretty good! I MC'd a campaign set in Victorian era London, and we had a great time, aside from one player who didn't like having to roleplay and me being bad at describing locations
@Fenreliania (and yeah I've played with people like that and it's infuriating and unfun)
@Fenreliania @lizardsquid
How does Dungeonworld work? I prefer more dice-heavy games because roleplaying makes me nervous, but I'm willing to try.
@DialMforMara @lizardsquid Basically it's really adaptable so you say you want to do something, that usually translates to one of your moves, and you then roll 2d6 and the result determines if it's a success, partial success, or failure - plus behind the scenes it makes it easier for the DM to keep track of actors and factions, and to play into characters' mistakes and failures in interesting ways.
@Fenreliania @DialMforMara the more interesting thing for me is that HOW you perform an action is much more important than it is in D&D
and also - the GM is mostly reactive and has to do certain things in response to your moves, depending on how well you do things, which makes it easier to GM well
@lizardsquid I also don't like D&D because it's so inflexible and boring, which is also why it's literally the only system my friends will ever play because they literally hate things like dungeonworld for providing too much freedom.
This is what I'm dealing with =_=
