When I was in my early-to-mid-teens, I drew extreme, grotesque art almost exclusively. Lots of bones, slime, Geiger-looking biomehanical stuff, inhuman cybernetics etc. It went over with authority figures about as well as you'd expect.
It wasn't until I left my high school that I stopped having to treat my art as contraband - I was used to hiding it from authoritative scrutiny, ditching pads when I thought I was going to be searched and retrieving them later.
@lizardsquid I went to middle and high school post-Columbine, perhaps one of the least-surprising things about this all.
