@LottieVixen well yeah that is one of the weaker parts of the argument :P she later goes on to say that the purpose of love is that the pursuit of beauty brings about enlightenment, and loving ideas is better than loving people??? i don't agree with her all that much lol
@LottieVixen but the book is structured as a series of speeches and each one offers a different perspective on love. there's a myth in there for example about people being originally created with four arms and four legs and two heads but then the gods split them in two and now everyone's looking for their perfect match, which you see referenced sometimes. (usually in modern times people straightwash it but the original myth definitely accommodated gayness)
