I've noticed a lot of US people recently saying "oh wifi is so irregular and inconsistant, unlike home internet"
and...
???
I'm so confused?
@lizardsquid
Home internet is just as inconsistent lmao
@SilviaFox now I'm more confused???
what do you mean by wifi?
@lizardsquid
I said internet o.o
@lizardsquid
Wait I think I get it
People basically tend to use the the words interchangeably because ??????
@lizardsquid They might be talking about public wifi? Like at a coffee shop or something?
@lizardsquid
Yes
@SilviaFox why would you use those interchageably hgjskghjfkhsdjkfdh
@lizardsquid
I don't know either
If it makes you feel any better I at least am not quite as uninformed
@lizardsquid
That sounded pretentious as hell but the point is that at least not everyone does it
@lizardsquid @SilviaFox wait what do people actually do this? we've never heard it before
@lizardsquid I've never heard anyone say "WiFi" to refer to mobile Internet. Generally we say "data" or something.
@lizardsquid I'd guess they're referring to wireless internet at coffee shops, etc. And comparing it to their home internet, which is also run on wi-fi but tends to be more reliable due to fewer users.
Lots of Americans also use the term "wi-fi" as synonymous with "internet access." Probably because a wireless connection point is considered pretty standard these days?
wait
do they mean mobile internet when they say wifi?
