spirituality, mh, plurality (+)
I started attending Quaker meetings recently, and I'm attending an "Intro to Quakerism" class, and it made me realize just how much my spirituality has *directly* helped my mental health throughout my life and now as I adapt to plurality. So many times, the inner light has guided my mind to making the changes that it needs to be healthy, and to healing and repair. Worshiping regularly, and now discussing it with other attending Quakers, has really made that clear.
Tidbits from therapy:
… the difference it makes having a neurodivergent therapist is unmeasurable.
Yesterday she said to me, after I said that “I overthink everything” …
“Don’t you think that maybe people telling us not to overthink things are being ableist? This is how your brain processes the world.”
Woah. #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #Autistic #ActuallyAutistic @autisticadvocacy
Folks, the more dire the legislation gets, the more it needs a CW.
I know its important. And vital. This is why it needs a CW.
Thank you,
A trans citizen of both the US and the UK (all of this is killing me. My mental health is turning to shit. Please use a fucking CW. Throwing out this shit on to the timeline without a CW is collaborating. Dont at me.)
@drazisil ok so I’m new to autism but the way I understand it autism speaks coopted the #autism tag and really pissed off the community because they’re horrible and dangerous so #actuallyautistic was created so people knew who to listen to and could get information straight from the source.
The popular macho image of #CaptainKirk is so way off, especially in the context of the mid-60s, when the ideal male action hero was an unfeeling lone wolf (think Sean Connery's Bond, early John Wayne, etc). #StarTrek shows Kirk as connected, caring, even vulnerable, a foil to Spock's struggle to suppress emotion (which is arguably also about gender, but that's a whole other essay). Their dynamic was a huge part of the appeal to women, who flocked to ST fandom & invented slash.
Last year I made a website for people who want to #volunteer or do good in the world, but may not want or be able to do something in person.
It's a categorized index of ways you can #volunteer your time with a variety of projects.
I made it specifically for people who are struggling with #mentalhealth issues, who may be #disabled or are maybe just overwhelmed at where to start.
I'd love feedback or suggestions for more sites!
- Don’t flee pain, chase the incandescent joy at the heart of your soul. Growth can be painful. It often means facing the deep dark inside of us, but that joy is the hope that lights our path. That hope for a better you, for a better world, for what brings you joy is that sustaining kind of hope.
