current gender

current gender: two smaller genders wearing a trenchcoat

going slightly crazy without access to a piano

"hi, can i come over sometime? oh, no, i don't want to do anything. just visit. how long? oh maybe a few hours. don't worry you don't have to do anything, i'll completely ignore you. what? no, there's nothing wrong with my house..."

does anyone else feel this way? it's happened to me a couple times but it seems like it would be incredibly awkward to propose explicitly.

i think an an under-appreciated way to hang out with someone is to just sit in the same room together, working on separate things.

sometimes it's nice to just silently enjoy someone's company.

another reason: i don't really feel like my gender is an integral part of my personality or self-image

gender

i think the reason i prefer to go by gender-neutral pronouns online is that /my gender shouldn't matter/. judge me by my ideas; check your prejudices at the door.

in-person, sure, it's difficult to avoid being gendered, and i don't really mind. but online it's easy.

@lizardsquid tbf, it sounds cool as hell, it just... doesn't mean... what it's supposed to mean

I'd like to know how the writers of Fate/stay night [unlimited blade works] thought that "i am the bone of my sword" was a good translation for 体は剣で出ζ₯ている = "my body is made of swords"

i need to stop starting these threads late at night πŸ’€

i have all these messaging apps, with friends i could talk to, people i know, but i would never think to text someone without a very specific reason in mind. a link i know they'd like, a question that only they can answer, etc. this doesn't happen very often.

do people actually chat for fun? what do you talk about?

i'm so dang introverted. my idea of a fun weekend is to hack on some code, or read a book, or whatever.
