12. I avoid asexual spaces at the moment… Online because they often center around debunking anti-ace bs and that is just so stressful, and offline because I had a weird discussion with someone once that got really personal for me and I think the group probably hates my for (almost? idk) crying there and I can't ever see them again m)
11. I currently don't drink coffee, but I still drink tea. But from my estimates that is still less caffeine than I got from coffee, and I think maybe I'm still not used to it after more than a month?! Or maybe I'm just more depressed or summer is making me tired. We'll never know.
@cassolotl I started doing this on the French #MastoWiki. But the only one finished for now is #WitchesTown.
Does anyone publish #reviews of #Mastodon #instances (not just a list with stats, but info like "this one is especially for musicians" or "this one has a lot of lefty activism talk" etc).
Relatedly, I think saying that "hashtag" is a pronunciation of the symbol # misses an important detail. When someone says "hashtag" aloud (like John Oliver's running joke), it doesn't just imply the use of the # sign, like saying "pound" or "octothorpe". Instead, like saying "quote" or "quote-unquote," it is a modifier for the spoken words that follow, grouping them and indicating how they would/should be written.
But in a way it recapitulates in microcosm the history of written language: If emoticons and then emoji are direct visual representations (smiling face -> happiness) whose meaning depends on context (floppy disk -> obsolete technology, nostalgia) almost like determinatives in hieroglyphics, then using hypothetical filenames (smol snek finger bop.gif, cheezburger cat.jpg) removes direct visual representation.
If the name of a file is a part of that file, then this would be some type of synecdoche, I suppose.
What's the name for the rhetorical device of using a filename, or hypothetical filename, to stand for a bit of media? E.g., if I just typed
darth-vader-noooooo.gif
or, alternatively,
sad-trombone.mp3,
the meaning comes across through common (sub)cultural currency, without my actually including a picture or a sound.
10. I don't own anything in rainbow colors. My preferences for the colors around me are very specific and don't include red, yellow or orange.

You suddenly realize you left Earth.exe open over night. What was supposed to be a simple simulation has instead generated a "Humans" folder that is rapidly increasing in size.

@desikitteh oh I understand that line of thinking, I'm always worried people secretly hate me but don't want to unfollow for some reason m)
Hmmm, I don't know… I… I think I'm proudest of having some meatspace friends? ^^; Oh and once I got a good grade in a new subject that I was really interested in but that didn't come to me easily, that made me kind of happy-proud. Oh and I'm not great at teaching myself things, but I did learn a few new things in the last few months!
@desikitteh yes, there is! In settings, you can choose a user name and just give that to other people. The best thing is that it's not permanent, so if it somehow got too public and people who you don't want to talk to are messaging you, you could just (block them all and then) change it and they wouldn't be able to find you any more.
