*hasshasshass*
I really hate this thing where "not knowing stuff" is kind of the worst thing that someone can admit in tech-world. This is why so many people struggle to learn things, are afraid to ask questions,...
All these "everyone knows this!"-guys and their not very funny "jokes" are just so not useful or helpful. Especially in spaces that are MEANT for learning things!
Folien so "Im konkreten Fall kann man n=1 (oder als echter Informatiker auch n=0) wählen"
Yesterday Gargron helped me get his take on the project, so that I can write a mission statement. But, I would also love to hear your take, so I can combine the two into our collective statement.
This is me trying to be more transparent with the process.
Feel free to help me answer these questions:
1. What does Mastodon mean to you?
2. Where do you want to see the project go?
3. How do you talk about Mastodon with your friends?
And that seems so counter intuitive, like, I'd assume it was the other way round, get the general idea of what something is from videos and then read something for the "what does it have to look like exactly" bit? but apparently no
Okay but I'm super fascinated by how useful youtube is for me for understanding simple coding stuff
I can't focus on the lecture (because it's long and boring) or on books or other written explanations but there are some really good videos
Even more surprisingly i think i usually get the general concept from other sources, but if i have trouble understanding how to use things (sometimes that's just about remembering enough of the syntax to be able to look things up?!) video explanations are 👍
The thing about metaphors is not only that they might not capture the issue accurately, or that they are not universally accessible, but also
that they can make people hate you because you manage to hit all their squicks at once ✨
here's my project manager safe pitch for making your game accessible by designing it so all its difficulty is optional, even to the point of making failure impossible:
you know how popular streaming is? people see the whole game for free! no fair!
now what if the players could stream the game... to themselves... until it was over... using the game controller???
"your point was clear enough without getting sexist, and i found the part where you talked about the computery bits far more relatable before you anthropomorphised them"
accessibility please I beg u
'abandon triple-A and go indie' is slim comfort; I've lost track of the number of games just this year that have been described like 'don't let its pretty graphics fool you, it's hiding a hardcore extreme brutal punishing challenge'
it's like
just make a very easy mode
and make that mode very easy
if Uncharted 4 can do it so can you
I've already had to abandon writing, playing music, drawing, and dancing to my disabilities please just let me have some video games
Btw of the covers with the huge charter marks on them Lirael is clearly (clayrly… ahah /o\) the prettiest, followed by Clariel, and the others, well, the others aren't pretty.
Aaah, I feel like I'm cheating time by skipping Clariel. I SHOULD have listened to it before Sabriel, or at least, well, now, because chronological order, but gnaaah I don't really want to right now
Mhm I was thinking of "The Creature in the Case", and it seems to be included in "Across the Wall", but there doesn't seem to be an audiobook. This is sad.
Also isn't there a bunch of other stories? I remember reading a small purple book that i didn't love but omg
I have to see if these exist as audiobooks as well *doesn't want to miss things but is too lazy to read*
Omg
I finished Abhorsen (not for the first time but I tend to forget a lot of the plot of books)
Aaaaaaah
I think I have to skip Clariel and listen to Goldenhand? (which I don't know yet aaah so exciting, but then, I didn't like Clariel (the book, the character was ok), so what if I don't like Goldenhand either, what if I just don't like the newer books :o
